Progress Update Q3: Kiwis

I can hardly believe it’s been three years since I first welcomed these kiwis into my life! When I initially acquired them, they were tiny, nestled among a mix of succulents. What drew me to them were the spiky edges of their leaves and that charming contrast between bright pink and lush green.

However, things took a challenging turn when I discovered mealybugs infesting them. It took a whole year for my kiwis to recover, and during that time, they seemed almost dormant. I couldn’t help but feel guilty every time I glanced their way.

But look at them now!

I’ve been contemplating staking them, but there’s something endearing about the way they crawl. If their branches start to droop excessively, I’ll step in with some support. They’re such a low-maintenance addition to my collection, typically needing water only every other week. It’s safe to say I couldn’t have asked for a better introduction to succulents. While I do have a desire to acquire more aeoniums, I’m aware that they thrive best outdoors to reach their full potential. For now, I’ll cherish my kiwis and perhaps consider expanding my collection down the road.
