My Outdoor Cacti

I thought it would be easy to have outdoor cacti, but honestly, it was not. I realized I didn’t keep up with watering them during the peak of the summer, and a couple of vacation weeks didn’t help at all either.

After the first vacation to visit family, I noticed one cactus was leaning more than it should be. I left it alone, and two weeks later, after visiting my side of the family, it had keeled over and died.

I pulled in my monkey tails after they got burned, and they’re happily living in some west-facing windows now. One even has a baby coming out of the soil! I’m very excited to see that.

Additionally, I moved in my rat tail cactus, and it’s also popping off new growth. So, I think the high heat combined with my negligence in watering didn’t help matters at all.

I’m hoping that next summer, I’ll retain the knowledge of moving things under the shade cloth sooner and watering more frequently than I initially thought.

I keep telling myself no more cacti, but then I’m like, “Woooo, I’m sure some nurseries or big box stores might have sales on cacti before winter hits.” It’s a losing battle, honestly.

Kitten tax for making it through my blog post.
