I recently purchased a reptile terrarium with the intention of using it as a habitat for plants that require slightly higher humidity levels than they would receive sitting in regular pots around my apartment. It’s an exciting project, and I’m eager to see how it turns out.
As for the plant selection, I haven’t made up my mind completely. I’ve been brainstorming various options, but I don’t want to rush into buying all of them at once. One plant that I’m certain about adding to the terrarium is my rattlesnake plant. Its unique foliage and tropical vibe will make it a great addition.
However, when it comes to the other plants, I’m still undecided. I’ve been jotting down ideas and then scratching them off the list because I’m not entirely convinced they would thrive in the reptile tank environment. Since the terrarium has a mesh top, it wouldn’t be suitable for plants that thrive in high humidity conditions—at least not initially. I plan on getting a thermometer and humidity gauge in the near future to monitor the temperature and humidity levels inside the tank. This will help me assess which plants would be most compatible.
For now, I think I’ll start by adding 2-3 additional plants to the terrarium. This way, I can observe how they respond to the environment and make adjustments as needed. It’s an exciting journey, and I’m looking forward to creating a thriving plant habitat in my reptile terrarium.
