Recap of Crochet

Wow, I can’t believe it’s already the end of June – time really flew by! It feels like I just started practicing chains yesterday, sitting comfortably in my swivel chair.

While I didn’t create a ton of things, I’m genuinely proud of the blanket I made and those adorable coasters – especially the chicken one, which is definitely my favorite.

Currently, I’m working on an ugly market bag using random yarns. It’s a way for me to utilize those bits and pieces of yarn when I don’t have enough of a single color. Initially, I thought I wouldn’t have to use the bag in public, but surprisingly, I’m starting to fall in love with it. Admittedly, my tension needs improvement, but I’m definitely sticking with this new hobby. There’s something so relaxing and rewarding about watching something beautiful emerge from a simple strand of yarn.

Here’s a funny story: one night, after crocheting for about an hour, I decided to take a break and grab a snack. I opted for some chips and cheese (or what some people call cheese chips). As I was making a plate of them, I found myself unconsciously counting each chip I placed on the plate. It’s amusing how I got so caught up in counting, thanks to the crochet mindset.

Interestingly, I initially thought I would dislike counting, but to my surprise, it’s not that bad. However, I can definitely see how it could become frustrating if someone were to interrupt me mid-count. It requires focus and concentration.

As for my future crochet plans, I aim to use up the yarn I currently have by bringing to life whatever comes to mind. After that, I’m considering making a cozy and chunky blanket. That’s my current train of thought. Since I’ll be visiting family in different states over the next couple of months, I want to focus on relaxing projects without any looming deadlines. It’ll be a wonderful time to enjoy my crochet hobby and unwind.
