My husband and I have thrown the ideas of living abroad, moving states, and even buying a camper van to visit the lower 48 states – sort of seriously and just for giggles, which then made me think critically about the plants I currently owned.
If we were to do any of the above I would probably want to give/sell some or all of my plants and I was sad from thinking about people taking my plants, but then after that thought, I had another one – a few I would get immediately again as soon as we were established in a new place; although, it would be interesting to see a couple houseplants in a camper van, ahaha.
I know I can always give away plants but it’s almost like I’m giving up on them which no one told me I was but it feels like it to me. But they’re plants and it’s okay to let them go.
But after the initial sadness I realized it wasn’t the end of the world for me and I could actually do it.
It would be a way to start fresh, ground zero. It was actually kind of exciting to think of starting new with completely different plants with the knowledge I’ve accumulated over the last year.
I’d say it was definitely freeing after having our adventure discussion and I won’t be down or be guilt tripped by myself or anyone else if I decide to give away or sell plants with their pots in the future; however, I would hope some family members would take a few so I can visit them later, ahaha.
The only plant I that I’d do my best to keep would be my peace lily. She is my favorite plant I have and I would pay big bucks to get her anywhere in the world. No plant in my collection gives me the same levels of joy as she does.
From thinking of all of the above, I made a list of plants I would start over with and most weren’t even from my wish list. How weird is that?
Even succulents didn’t make it on the list but I know I would eventually get a few….especially cacti.
I originally wrote most of this in October but getting it ready to be posted I realized why the plants I picked weren’t the ones on my wish list – they were in the realm of what I already have and just didn’t recognize that tidbit when I first made the list. I’ll still get the plants on my wish list eventually, just not right away. Crazy what 20/20 hindsight is, ahaha.
So if you ever see plants free for the taking in an apartment lobby in the future it might just be me!
